Here is a good example of a good Flash designed site. A lot can be said about the design and functionality but I want to focus on something else. If you go and browse over to ForeignPolicyLTD.com, you will see that this site is using a splash page. After I started writing this post I started wondering about how well this website is SEOed being Flash based and using a splash page. So this is what we’ll be taking a look at here.
I like the textures used on this header and occasionally on the page. Also the green with orange works well here.

A nice, simple, paint buckets footer. A splash of color within the grays.

Again on the Apple site, smart use of color to show off their products. Have you noticed how most of the time their site is all blacks, whites and grays, then in the middle a perfect splash of color, bringing out the part of the site, the featured product that they want everyone to pay attention to?
This is, smart use of color.

I’ve looked at this navigation almost on the daily bases for a long time but have always taken it for granted. Today I will give it the respect it deserves.
It is simple, it is clean and it is functional. It is so perfect that people just use it without even thinking about it. That is what a navigation bar should be. There when you need it and otherwise out of the way.

Nice little grassy footer. The wood border doesn’t look very modernish on this picture but if you look at the whole site you’ll see it really goes and looks good.
Cute mosaic design. Very nicely done, lawn with flowers and a sprinkler. I like how they decided to go this way rather than having a picture of a plumber or something like that. This inspires creative ideas to present not-so-appealing things in a pleasant way on a website.

Wow, this really is a huge collection of textures. There is well over 1500 choices of brick textures and over 1000 metal surface textures. I am bookmarking this one.

Ever wonder what these textures can be used for?
Well here you can see just a taste: http://www.cgtextures.com/index.php?pass=true
Very simple and clean design. I like the large lines in the background. A bit of a shadow effect on the main page area. Web-two-point-owie. I like it.
