One Awesome Looking Homepage!

asmaa.gif

I haven’t visited the website for One80 Degree Studios in quite a while. I was pleasantly met with a stunning homepage! Asmaa…how long have you had this up? It’s great! We have featured one of Asmaa’s websites in the past (AI Vault). The new (to me) home page for One80 Degree Studios incorporates so many style elements that I enjoy: earthy colors, dark background, an AWESOME crest style logo, and simple, straightforward navigation. It’s definitely a ‘10′! Thanks for creating such an awe-inspiring home page!

Another Perspective on Why a Good Logo Design is Essential

Logo Design

I always enjoy finding articles related to my own which just reinforce the points I included in my article. I came across this logo design article this morning. This isn’t a long drawn out article, but very concise and to the point. However, it supports many of the points I made in my series of articles on the Four Principles of Logo Design. When you have the time, I would encourage you to read the article over at LogoDesignTeam and then review the series of Logo Articles written by Valik and me.

Crest Logo Design

I love these crest logos, they just look good. Centered in the header, boldly stating, “you have entered the Blog Design Blog zone”.

There is lots of work put into this one. You have the background first, the blue rays expanding from the center. Then you have the splats and the dripping paint effect followed by the fading diagonal lines. Looks like there are some white squiggly line patterns, a music symbol and only then you have the wings, the shield the lion and the ribbon with the Blog Design text on it.

Wow, try reading all that in one breath. Really, this is not an easy design to create and if you put some time into it, it comes out looking like a champ.

I will have to try making one of these some time.

WDI Articles Featured on Elite Web Design Blog

Web Design Ideas (that’s us!) was recently featured in an excellent article at the Elite Web Design Blog entitled 105+ Logo Design Tuts and Resources. This article has some excellent resources contained within it. Some of the sites are ones that we have featured here from time to time as well. We were extremely pleased that they chose to highlight the articles discussing the Four Principles of Logo Design. They referenced our 10 Worst Logo Designs article too.

Anyhow, we just wanted to “toot our own horn” a little bit and bask in a little bit of recognition for some of our work! Ahhh….that’s nice. Okay, we’re back to work!

Retro Style Website

Monday, June 30th, 2008

There are some really great looking “retro” style websites out there. How do you classify a site as retro? My opinion of what may cause a site to be labeled as retro is really pretty simple. It simply needs to remind me of advertising from really old magazines or television shows. Textures, colors, logo styles…stuff that resembles things that were in print 40, 50, 60+ years ago.

The MacTarnahan’s Brewing Company website is a prime example of what I consider a retro website. Its overall appearance is smooth and classic. It’s not shiny or glossy. It also uses really good, classic color combinations. Their website also matches their product packaging well too. This is something to remember as a web designer. Having a website that matches up well with a customers products or product packaging helps create an entire professional appearance that always scores well with the public.

Anyone else have some examples of great looking retro websites? Let me know!

For online marketing an excellent but simple web design is very important. If you are not a professional in web development then go for outsourcing website hosting.

Pencil Logo

Hey Tim, I happen to stumble on this one this morning. I thought you’d get a kick out of it. Kind of cute. What do you think?

Clever Logo Design

While I was visiting Digg, I came across a submission for cool looking Photoshop images. So, I took the bait and went to check the images out. Several of them were really cool, creative photos. Others were just okay. But, what I did find and was really pleased about was the logo for the site. Just Creative Design is the name of Jacob Cass’ graphic design company and his blog. The logo is a great piece of work. Duality is the first word that comes to my mind. Not only is it the initials of his company, JCD, but it’s a pencil too. Awesome and creative! Of course, these days I’m very partial to logos with pencils in their design, haha!

Anyhow, check out Jacobs site. I’m sure you will find lots of useful information and inspiring tips and photos there. Enjoy!

Either you are going for taking 642-845 exams or you are appearing in MCTS 70-272 exam, you need to be well prepared in them. Online resources can really help you in preparing for 1z0-042 exam, or even 642-552 exam. If you have skills in CVOICE Cisco Voice then only success in 642-436 exam can prove this.

My Logo Design is Feeling Loved…

McWriters

I’ve had lots of positive comments about my logo over the past couple of weeks. Previously, I had only been including it on my invoices to customers while my website was being created. However, now that the site is done (thanks Valik!), I’ve received quite a few glowing comments on my logo. I also received lots of great reviews from the folks who are printing my business cards too (which, Valik also designed).

Anyhow, now that the shameless promotion is out of the way, I’d like to ask what you think of my logo! Send those comments in and let the fun begin!

After this, I’ll be putting up my website for review…I have some questions that I’d like to have outside input on to help me resolve them.

Thanks! ~~

Yet Another Crest Inspired Logo!

Crest Logo

This is shaping up to be a good week! I came across another logo that has some crest style leanings to it. The logo for Stuff and Nonsense has a definite crest look to it. I particularly like the sketched appearance it has to it. In some ways, it almost reminds me of something out of a comic book (which is cool). The color combinations and the non-glossy finish are also cool touches. It’s definitely a cool logo.

Their site is also very informative as well. Since Stuff and Nonsense is a web design studio, they feature many examples of their creative work. I would encourage you to spend some time perusing their site. Lots of good stuff! Enjoy!

It’s been awhile since we featured a crest logo. Honestly, they are hard to find! However, while visiting DesignEyedea, I found a link to Designchapel where I was pleasantly met with a crest style logo. Yay! So, check it out…it’s a great one. Also, take some time to look at their site because there is a great deal of good stuff there. Lots of inspiration!
