Web Design Ideas (that’s us!) was recently featured in an excellent article at the Elite Web Design Blog entitled 105+ Logo Design Tuts and Resources. This article has some excellent resources contained within it. Some of the sites are ones that we have featured here from time to time as well. We were extremely pleased that they chose to highlight the the articles discussing the Four Principles of Logo Design. They referenced our 10 Worst Logo Designs article too.
Anyhow, we just wanted to “toot our own horn” a little bit and bask in a little bit of recognition for some of our work! Ahhh….that’s nice. Okay, we’re back to work!
While I was visiting Digg, I came across a submission for cool looking Photoshop images. So, I took the bait and went to check the images out. Several of them were really cool, creative photos. Others were just okay. But, what I did find and was really pleased about was the logo for the site. Just Creative Design is the name of Jacob Cass’ graphic design company and his blog. The logo is a great piece of work. Duality is the first word that comes to my mind. Not only is it the initials of his company, JCD, but it’s a pencil too. Awesome and creative! Of course, these days I’m very partial to logos with pencils in their design, haha!
Anyhow, check out Jacobs site. I’m sure you will find lots of useful information and inspiring tips and photos there. Enjoy!
I’ve had lots of positive comments about my logo over the past couple of weeks. Previously, I had only been including it on my invoices to customers while my website was being created. However, now that the site is done (thanks Valik!), I’ve received quite a few glowing comments on my logo. I also received lots of great reviews from the folks who are printing my business cards too (which, Valik also designed).
Anyhow, now that the shameless promotion is out of the way, I’d like to ask what you think of my logo! Send those comments in and let the fun begin!
After this, I’ll be putting up my website for review…I have some questions that I’d like to have outside input on to help me resolve them.
This is shaping up to be a good week! I came across another logo that has some crest style leanings to it. The logo for Stuff and Nonsense has a definite crest look to it. I particularly like the sketched appearance it has to it. In some ways, it almost reminds me of something out of a comic book (which is cool). The color combinations and the non-glossy finish are also cool touches. It’s definitely a cool logo.
Their site is also very informative as well. Since Stuff and Nonsense is a web design studio, they feature many examples of their creative work. I would encourage you to spend some time perusing their site. Lots of good stuff! Enjoy!
It’s been awhile since we featured a crest logo. Honestly, they are hard to find! However, while visiting DesignEyedea, I found a link to Designchapel where I was pleasantly met with a crest style logo. Yay! So, check it out…it’s a great one. Also, take some time to look at their site because there is a great deal of good stuff there. Lots of inspiration!
While I was looking at various Graphic Designer websites, I came across the blog for Graphiceyedea and thought I would share it with you. I like the overall theme for their blog. I really enjoy their color theme. It’s calm, smooth, and very professional in its appearance. I also like their logo and the clever way the spell the name of their company. Their logo alone is a great display of their creativity which should definitely be appealing to potential customers.
Their main website is still being created. So, I’ll have to check up every now and then to see what the progress is. Once it goes live, perhaps I’ll review it here as well. I’m sure it will be well worth checking out!
Have you ever found yourself trying to remember lots of different things only to forget them later? I hate it when that happens. I’ve thought about carrying a mini voice recorder around to record thoughts, ideas, or a description of something that I saw, but it’s not practical. I often wonder how many things I ‘miss’ because I forget. As a web designer, it’s important to try and remember things that catch your eye or provide some sort of inspiration.
Evernote has come up with a clever way to assist people like me (and perhaps you too?). Evernote allows you to use your phone to record pictures, video or audio, it also allows you to capture information you have found on the Internet too. Once the information is captured, it makes this information accessible and searchable at anytime and from anywhere. Not bad!
So now, you can take a snapshot of a cool design, or record information you want to remember later on, and Evernote gives you the ability to retrieve it later on across multiple platforms. You can access the information from your desktop, phone, or Internet.
Check it out and let me know what you think of it. I’m going to give it a try.
**Also, I have to mention their logo as well. It’s a great, simple design. The elephant ties in perfectly with their tag line, “remember everything.” Elephants, excellent memories, they never forget…get it?! Anyhow, it’s a great logo. I hope Evermore catches on and finds itself useful to many, many people. It seems like a great idea.
