Unique Navigation Setup

Gutenberg On Line has an interesting site navigation set up. Actually, I like the way the entire site ‘moves’ from page to page. While I do not understand the language it is written in (I believe it is Polish), I found myself clicking through page after page just to see how the navigation menu functions. It’s unique and I like it. What do you think of it? This is another one of those websites to ‘file away’ for use on projects that may come up in the future.

Great Flash Site

Great Flash Site

I came across a website this evening that was very impressive. The site is for a design company called 2Advanced Studios. Their company slogan is “Progressive Design Technology.” Judging from their own site, they are steeped in their adherence to progressiveness.

I like the way they use an expanding navigation system on their site (they refer to it as an expanded navigation array). The layout of their entire site is very ‘edgy’ and engaging. In my opinion, they make the user want to click a button just to see what happens next.

Check it out for yourself: 2Advanced Studios

Sliding CSS Navigation Menu Design Idea

To save realestate on your website for other things here is a nice little sliding navigation menu that sits tucked away on the side until you need it. When you mouce over the part that is visible, the menu slides out and is then populated with the menu choices. This is built using CSS and JavaScript.

Another Simple Categories Menu

Side Products Categories Menu Design Idea

Another simple products categories menu. After looking around for these menus for a while I realize that most reputable companies’ websites leave their menus as simple as possible. The way they make them look & feel appropriate with the rest of the website is placement, colors and spacing.

Have you seen any other ones that I can add here? Let me know in the comments.

Clean Expandable Products Categories Menu Design Idea

The Neiman Marcus website’s products categories menu went completely “minimalist”, it is just a text menu, yet it looks appropriate, it looks like it belongs there. This is simple yet powerful.

A Simple Expandable Products Categories Menu Design Idea

Here is an example of a simple expandable products categories menu bar. It is simple and effective. Gray background with white text color, when expanded the background turns white in the expanded area and the text turns gray. Works great for this website.

Expandable Products Categories Menu Bar Design

Clean Products Navigation Design Idea

Melaleuca’s website has a very clean products categories menu, it is not cluttered and very easy to see where you are and where to are to click to get to where you are going. No underline on links and the gray arrows on the right add to the functionality and appeal.

When the tree is expanded and the mouse hovers over the links the background behind them turns white. The main products tree buttons are wearing a suddle gray to white gradient effect that gives them a rounded look.

I am going to look into posting more of these products category and tree type menus.
