While looking for another site today, I came across a link that took me to an awesome 3D site called Screenvader. With many of these kind of sites, it took me a minute to figure out the navigation. Of course, I spent some time playing around and watching the screen tracking my cursor (I fall for that one everytime, haha).
Anyhow, check out the site when you get a chance. In my opinion, it’s a great combination of simplicity in its appearance, yet it’s very advanced in its navigation and use of three dimensional effects.

I stumbled across this site while looking for good resources for three dimensional design. 3DTotal is an impressive site. They have tutorials, design tips and techniques, forums and some impressive galleries. They also have a good collection of interviews with leading CG artists and designers. If you are looking for inspiration in the 3D department…go visit their site. You’ll be impressed, inspired, and probably educated at the same time. Lots of good stuff there…

I came across this site last night for Art in Hong Kong and thought it merited mention. I like the way their home page combines elements that appear to be hand drawn and the use of Flash technology. The overall appearance has an artsy feel to it along with a three dimensional twist. When you add in the movement in the scenes, it creates a very unique looking home page. I especially like the menu tab on the left side. This is a simple site navigation set up. When you mouse over the word ‘Menu’ it opens up to allow you to select your destination. I like it!

This is certainly unconventional, but it’s very eye catching. This is definitely something to file away for those web design customers who are requesting a site design that stands out in a crowd!

The source site for this is: http://www.mariusroosendaal.com

This is a nice example of a 3-D Space image effect. To analyze how this 3-D effect can be created, create the background first, then using a soft brush with a black or a dark color draw a horizontal line or shade to create the fold. The shaddow details under the logo makes the logo and the little monk look like they are floating or hovering in the air. The screen capture of the program has a nice reflection, to create it just duplicate the screen caprute layer(s) and flip them vertically. Move this new image down so it just butts up against the original image, it will look like a mirror reflection. Now adjust the oppacity so it is transparent (about 10% to 30%) and use a soft brush to erase the bottom so it looks like it’s fading out. I think we have a nice 3-D effect.
